Bonjour F1 fans,
This gp season is still a whirlwind and Monaco brings it to another glamour level. I do not want to bore you about the race intrigues yet, so we can discuss the most important things, luxuries and chaos of the Monaco Grand Prix. If you’ve been, you know. And as long as you intend to take the race on May 25, 2025, I recommend that you hang around. We are now heading into this mini city-state that deserved its status as the ultimate billionaire playground.
The Monaco Grand Prix track is well known for its nefarious turns and narrow lanes that go through Monte Carlo and La Condamine. In those same lanes, the world’s best luxury brand stores and boutiques, opulent casinos, and extravagant clubs, along with luxurious hotels that cater to the world’s top 1% elites during race weekend.
It’s not just an extravagant man-made experience; nature, too, is at its peak there. Monaco, located in the French Riviera, near the Italian-French border, and in the Mediterranean Sea, offers a chance of a serene getaway, one completely in contrast to the luxury life the principality offers. That’s also probably why everyone loves it.
You’re probably thinking, Monaco only got its fame due to the F1 races, right?
The city was surrounded by opulence long before the F1 circuit decided to hold a race there in 1929. Founded by Prince Charles III in 1863, the Monte Carlo Casino is a leading contributor to the old-money environment that surrounds the city-state. Surely, it would have provided a glamorous escape and created a tax haven, in addition to being a casino where you can gamble wild sums of money, which might explain why, long before it became a place to race, Monaco became the playground of billionaires.
“Monaco is not just a race; it’s an experience. The city, the parties, the glamour, it’s like stepping into a different world.” __ Lewis Hamilton
The F1 circuit did bring the principality into the public eye by revealing a unique blend of glamour, luxury, and world-class racing and speed. The Monaco GP isn’t special just because of the uncompromising challenge presented by the Monegasque track. It is special in its own right – there are not many racetracks around the world that bring into play the exquisite flavour of the race weekend with its unique environment and colourful exuberance to encompass what it all means whilst making it a special race for the fans, and a legendary party weekend for the billionaires.
Buckle up like an F1 driver at the starting grid, as we are now going to take a virtual spin through Monaco in some of the world’s best luxury vehicles. With the Grand Prix weekend only days away, this brilliant gem located on the glittering, blue Mediterranean of the French Riviera switches to high-octane speed, style, and sophistication. From exclusive yacht parties to designer fetes, and breathtaking views to secret treasures. Let’s discover elite style, luxurious experiences, and inviting invitations and events throughout the one and only Monaco, the ultimate playground and playground for imaginations during race week!
How does old money get to the island in style?
Monaco is no stranger to luxury, but during race week, even billionaires want to test their speed limits, or rather, wealth limits. Naturally, therefore, their entrance is as splendid as their fortune. The Nice Airport is flooded with the private jets, helicopters fly in Vip to Monaco, and, by the way, superyachts fill the harbour. There are rumors that they may make the cars in the circuit cheap.
Indeed, in its sincerity, the harbor in Monaco literally becomes a floating museum of luxury during the weekend of the Grand Prix. Dozens of superyachts that belong to the personal collection of the world elite are lined up at the dock all around the world in order to have exclusive gatherings and lavish parties. It is not just a meeting, it is a statement. You must have a stroll on the harbor, whether you are a passenger or not. It is among the most known pictures of Monaco: the sun reflecting through the smooth boats, laughing on the open water, engines running.
The Parties where the Real Racing happens
If you think the race has kept you on your toes, the afterparties are here to show you what an adrenaline dose is actually like. Every major team has its own VIP bash, while some are more exclusive than the podium itself. As an example, we can take Red Bull who throws an exclusive, invitation only, yacht party as wild as the racing team. Imagine all the best DJs in the world, the most exciting stunts, and the luxurious setting in which the win is an afterthought.
So if you’ve been to Monaco, you need to visit Amber lounge, and in fact, it’s a “must-see” no matter the scenario. It’s Monaco’s preeminent gathering in which the high-fliers congregate. Entry alone costs thousands, and once inside, you understand why it makes sense. The guest list is practically a copy of the Forbes billionaire index, no joke. You’re bound to find yourself rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s most old-money people as well as your favourite F1 stars, and sometimes even Hollywood stars, a treat for the eyes indeed. Along with champagne that flows like a river, fashion shows that take the centre stage, the opulent environment is everything and more.
But if you’re looking for a nightclub, your stop better be at Jimmy’z, Monaco’s favourite nightclub. A scene straight out of a movie – think celebrities, moguls, and some of the most expensive drinks that sit on the bar counters. If the party life had an old money uncle, the club would be it.
Beyond the race: Strolling through the streets of Monte Carlo
While the Grand Prix is the man of the hour, Monaco, being its extravagant self, offers more than just the race for its visitors. With the Monte Carlo Casino buzzing with high-stakes gambling, and shopping from the best luxury stores on the Avenue Princess Grace to make use of that black Amex, designer brands compete for attention as notoriously as the drivers in the race.
For those seeking a taste of Monaco’s culture, Michelin-starred restaurants cater to every possible craving you could have by the Mediterranean sea. Whether that be French gastronomy with a side of exquisite caviar or seafood that tastes like the sea, Monaco has a delicious solution to all your culinary dreams, in style, of course.
A Spectacle of Wealth in everything you do
What makes the Monaco GP different from any other race in the world is its shameless flaunting of wealth, in everything you do. You’d better have millions in the bank if you’re even planning a small birthday party at the racing weekend. Want to rent an apartment with a track view? A ticket for the best grandstand? Easily some tens of thousands of euros, please. But then again, if you’re in Monaco, why settle for seats when you can’t watch the race from your very own private balcony or the VIP terraces, sipping drinks and mingling with people whose net worth is more than the cars on the track.
While drivers compete on the track for the GP, off the track, billionaires compete in their own league of who can flex the most over the weekend. Who has the biggest yachts? The most luxurious party? Did you see the price on that bottle service? So what private balcony are we to see the race? Here is where you will find so much luxury in a single location. Anyway, it is only about winning in Monaco, it is about being able to demonstrate to the world what you have already won!
The Final lap: Race day
As the racers drive the last lap on Sunday, tensions are high, and all eyes are on the race until one of them takes the podium and is sprayed with the last bottles of high-end champagne by the elites. As the yachts drift back into the Mediterranean under a fading sunset, Monaco slowly sheds its Grand Prix persona. The city which enacted the role of a glittering drama queen over the course of the weekend starts relaxing. It is now only a nearly filmic silence, a sophisticated silence, that falls on the paving of the streets and on the gleaming fronts. The sound disappears yet the glitz remains sheathing Monaco in its customary silent opulence once again.
The Grand Prix has never been merely a world race to the global community, particularly, the elite; it is their annual vacation into a city full of speed, power and excess. An opportunity to party more than the engines on the tracks. A glimpse of a well-off world in which the borders are indistinct.
Even though the drivers are already queued in the grid, the billionaires are already celebrating on board superyachts and terraces overlooking panoramic shots of the circuit. You are in Monaco this season of the Grand Prix, prepare yourself: this is where spending sprees and adrenaline are revived.
